Free word cloud generator

Turn your words into a print, a gift or a classroom display. Start with an example, or paste a list of your own.

Start with your own words

Paste a note, open a TXT or CSV file, or try the teacher thank-you example. Your words appear in an editable list before they become artwork. Check the spelling, remove anything you don't need, and keep names or short expressions together with phrase input.

Weights control how large words appear. When you paste ordinary text, repeated words get higher counts. For a gift or decorative print, you can choose the weights yourself. Give the main message more space, or use equal weights when every word should have the same starting size.

Make a word cloud in five steps

  1. Add your text, then check the word list. Use one phrase per line for expressions such as Thank you.
  2. Choose a shape. A circle or heart gives longer words more room than a star or a letter.
  3. Pick a font, adjust the word sizes and spacing, then select Generate layout.
  4. Check the placed and unplaced counts. Open the report to see any words that need attention.
  5. Choose your colors and background, then download PNG, SVG or PDF at the size you need.

Check which words fit

The report lists every word that could not be placed and explains why. A long phrase might need a wider shape; a small word might fall below the minimum readable size. Use those details to decide what to change. A few open spaces are fine, especially near the points of a star or the stem of an apple.

The teacher example contains 44 words and phrases, including Thank you, Kindness, Inspire and Learn. These are suggested words you can personalize, rather than comments collected from a class. Replace them with your own message, change the shape, or try a different color palette before saving a copy.

Save a project you can edit later

Download a project JSON file to keep your words, settings and exact word positions. Open it whenever you want to make another version. PNG, SVG and PDF are the finished artwork; the project file is your editable copy. Save both if you plan to return to the design.

Working with a large list

You can paste up to 100,000 characters or import a text file up to 512 KiB (524,288 bytes). A layout can include up to 250 words. For a longer list, choose how many of the highest-weighted words to arrange; the remaining rows stay in the report. Large PNG exports also depend on the memory available in your browser.
