Privacy and your word cloud
Find out how WordShapeLab handles your text, browser saves and downloaded files, and how to remove a project from a shared device.
Your text, word lists, supported files and layout settings are processed in your browser. You don't need an account. The site still makes ordinary requests to load pages, fonts and app files; this page explains the difference between those requests and your private project.
Your text in the editor
Editor pages don't load advertising, analytics or other third-party scripts. Your input isn't added to page URLs or public examples. The website supplies the fonts and app files, while your browser handles the word layout and supported downloads.
Projects saved in your browser
Save on this device stores one project's words, settings and layout in the browser profile you're using. Someone else using that profile may be able to open it. Browser storage can be cleared or become unavailable, so download project JSON when you need a copy to keep separately.
Choose Clear saved project to remove that browser copy. Your theme preference is stored separately. Clearing a project doesn't delete SVG, PNG, PDF, CSV or JSON files you've downloaded; check your downloads folder and backups for those copies.
Public pages and network requests
Loading a page or font sends a request to the hosting service, which may receive information such as your IP address. This release doesn't run advertising or analytics. If advertising is introduced in future, private editor input and saved projects must remain separate from advertising providers.
What your downloads contain
Project JSON contains the full word list and settings. Word list CSV contains words and weights, including rows that weren't placed. Artwork downloads show the words in the design; SVG and PDF can also include an optional title as metadata. Check what a file contains before sharing it. Downloads folders, sync services and backups are outside this tool's control.
Before using personal text
Remove details you don't want in the finished image or project file. If you're working with survey responses, read them for names and identifying information first. Arranging words in a cloud doesn't make the source anonymous. Share only the wording and files you intend others to see.
